What exactly is a credit?

One credit equals one US dollar. You buy credits, and they draw down at your Genie’s hourly rate as they work. A Genie at $8.50/hour uses 8.5 credits for every hour tracked.

Is anything added on top of the hourly rate?

No. There is no marketplace fee, no transaction fee, no contract initiation fee and no surcharge at checkout. The rate you see is the rate you pay. Most freelance platforms add 3% to 10% on top of what you agree with the freelancer; we don’t.

How do I know what a task will cost before I commit?

You set a budget when you post the task. Genies bid with the number of hours they need, so you see the cost before work starts. Credits are only deducted for hours actually tracked.

What if a task takes longer than agreed?

A Genie can request at most one additional hour per task, and only with your approval. If you decline, the work has to be completed within the hours originally agreed. Hourly billing can’t quietly run away from you.

Yes, up to five times. Pay-As-You-Go and Advanced clients can hire our most experienced Genies five times before being prompted to upgrade. A Top-Tier plan removes the cap entirely.

What happens if a Genie goes quiet or doesn’t deliver?

Report it to support. Escrow funds can be refunded, or the task reassigned to a different Genie so the work still gets done. Your Project Coordinator also steps in before a task closes if something is off.

Do I own the work my Genie produces?

Yes, in full. Deliverables are assigned to you worldwide on full payment and treated as work made for hire where the law allows. If you need the work kept out of a portfolio, say so in the task brief.

What does the $20 free credit cover?

Any Genie at any experience level, so you can try the platform properly rather than only at the entry tier. No card required. Free credits are spent before paid ones and expire 30 days after you claim them.

Can I cancel?

Monthly and annual plans can be cancelled anytime from your billing dashboard, effective at the end of the current billing cycle, and you keep your credits for the rest of their validity. Annual plans don’t auto-renew by default. Pay-As-You-Go has no subscription to cancel.

Can I hire a Genie directly, outside the platform?

There’s a route for it. With our written consent, a direct hire is permitted on payment of a $3,000 per-Genie buyout fee. Without consent, work that starts on RemoteGenies stays on it for two years.

How do I pay?

By card, processed through Stripe. Credits appear in your balance immediately.
